Philologist with an idea - mrs. Karolina Gnusowska-Weiss
Since November 26th 2004 the president of Wielkopolska region's department of Polish Travel Chamber.
This fine, full of energy person has built her tourism company all by herself. In times when you should have an "Orbis "- kind of experience or many good connections, she managed to force through her ideas and come into being on the international market.
She graduated the Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznan on the faculty of German philology. For many years she worked at the University as a lecturer of German language. She was a lecturer in High School of Hotel Management and Catering Business. However it's not the previous job that became Mrs. Weiss's true love. In 1984 she made a course to a tour leader of foreign groups.
- In the
beginning I leaded groups from Poland to NRD, with time I obtained
permission to service German tourists in Poland. –Mrs. Karolina
says.
Finally
in 1991, after the persuasions of husband, Mrs. Weiss decided to run
her own travel agency. Incoming tourism was to be the specialization
of Weiss-Travel. Then 27-year old Karolina started with complete
nothing. She had to build up the connections in the country and
abroad by herself. And how she admits, to establish the trust of the
Germans wasn’t easy at those times at all. She started with one
group. Today she services over a hundred per year.
Among
her clients are tourists from all over the world. The company
specializes in so called study tours for organized groups. These are
kind of incentive trips tailored to suit the particular client.
However main customers of the agency are defined professed groups,
hobbyists or specialists (not necessarily companies), ex.
parlamentarists, watch-makers. The clients are very demanding in most
cases. Very often they are connoisseurs, for whom organized program
has to be of a properly high quality. During their stay in Poland
they do the sightseeing, participate topical lectures and concerts.
Karolina Gnusowska-Weiss cooperates permanent with the German TUI. In
2000 in Berlin she was rewarded from this tour operator with a
diploma for the best Middle-East Europe partner. In 2002 at Tour
Salon fairs in Poznan she got the diploma awarded by TTG for the best
incoming incentive offer. Since November 2004 she is the president of
Wielkopolska region’s Chamber of Tourism, sits in the chief council
of the Chamber. Apart from this, she is a member of Presidium of the
Incoming Tourism Forum.
She
is interested in astrology, practical psychology, parapsychology, and
esotericism. She adores dance of all kinds, most of all standard, latino and tango
argentino. She
loves to discover the world and meet new people. She sails, dives,
skis. She’s not able to live without fitness. She is happy wife and
mother of two daughters. She is fluent in German and English. –
I’m trying to connect my professional life and developing my
company with my private life. I’m able to find enough time to
realize my passions and also be a good wife and mother. I think it
can be considered as my greatest achievement.
